Code of Ethics in Counseling

In alignment with the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 – India

At our center, we are committed to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards in mental health care. Our Code of Ethics ensures every client receives compassionate, respectful, and lawful support throughout their healing journey.

  • We respect every individual’s right to privacy, dignity, and autonomy.
  • We do not discriminate based on gender, religion, caste, disability, or identity.
  • Clients are encouraged to make informed choices about their therapy and healing.

Before beginning sessions, clients are provided full information regarding:

  • Type and scope of services
  • Fees and policies
  • Risks, benefits, and alternatives

Clients may refuse or withdraw from therapy at any time.

All client information is kept strictly confidential unless:

  • There is risk to life or safety
  • Required by court or law
  • Written consent is provided

We maintain secure and ethical record-keeping practices.

  • Our practitioners work within the scope of their qualifications and training.
  • We engage in regular supervision and continuing education.
  • Clients will be referred to specialists if needed.
  • We are committed to a safe, non-judgmental environment.
  • We do not tolerate any form of harm, abuse, or manipulation.
  • No financial, emotional, or physical exploitation will be permitted.
  • We avoid dual roles that may impact professional judgment.
  • No romantic or sexual relationships with clients—past or present.
  • Boundaries are clearly maintained to protect the therapeutic space.
  • We follow the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 and guidelines
  • Feedback and grievances are welcomed and addressed respectfully.
  • We advocate for mental health rights and awareness.
  • We actively work to reduce stigma and increase access to care.
  • Our goal is a more inclusive and healing-centered society.

Therapy may be concluded when:

  • Goals are achieved
  • Client chooses to pause or end therapy
  • Therapist deems a referral more appropriate

A free 30-minute closure session is recommended to end therapy on a meaningful note.
