Hi there! I’m Priyanka, and my mission is to leave a positive footprint on this beautiful planet by helping individuals and communities navigate their emotions. I believe in fostering harmony between humanity and our environment-because if we’re going to save the world, we might as well do it with a smile!

Understanding Mental Health

To me, mental health is a cornerstone of our overall well-being. It shapes how we think, feel, and engage with the world around us. I’ve witnessed firsthand how our mental state influences our ability to handle stress, form meaningful relationships, and make choices that align with our true selves.

Unfortunately, mental health issues are the leading cause of global disability, impacting millions who often struggle in silence. In India, where I live and work, this challenge is even more pronounced. Stigma and a lack of awareness create barriers that prevent many from seeking the help they need. I believe it’s essential to create safe spaces for open conversations about mental health, where we can share our experiences without fear of judgment. By fostering understanding and empathy, we can build a supportive community that empowers individuals to prioritize their mental well-being.

My Journey in Psychology

From a young age, I was always the bookworm – the curious, studious one with an insatiable love for learning and diving deep into the world of knowledge. My journey began in the non-medical stream, followed by a degree in English Hons, but life had other plans. A surprising turn of events led me to discover the beautiful and transformative world of Psychology – and I’ve never looked back since.

I went on to complete a Bachelor’s in Psychology (Specialization in Clinical & Developmental), followed by a Master of Science in Psychology, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counseling. I’m a Ph.D. Scholar in Positive Psychology. Over the years, I’ve also trained and become certified as a School Counselor, Career Coach, Clinical Hypnotherapist (California Hypnosis Institute), NLP & Gestalt Psychology Practitioner, an Advanced Medical Astrologer and Psychosomatic Healer, alongside these, I have studied and integrated 15+ healing modalities – from ancient traditions to modern approaches – which I incorporate into my holistic practice.

Since 2020, I’ve had the honor of working with several meaningful initiatives including:

  • Ministry of Youth & Sports (National Social Scheme)
  • Project Unlearn – a powerful initiative working with youth, jail inmates, and creating awareness around emotional and social responsibilities as human beings
  • School Counseling – yes, the most “interesting” experience (emotionally exhausting, and at times, hilariously eye-opening – schools, please stop treating counselors and teachers like robots)
  • Corporate Counseling, and
  • Being selected as a Positive Psychologist, where I integrate ethical values and Indian philosophies to see the person beyond the label.

I have presented research papers on national and international platforms on diverse and socially relevant themes including mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, peace and emotional resilience, the interplay between personality and society, and the psychological impacts of pornography addiction. These presentations reflect my ongoing commitment to addressing complex psychological issues with depth, cultural sensitivity, and evidence-based insight

In my work, I combine the deep wisdom of Hindu and Buddhist Psychology, developing unique modules that help people relate to healing in a more rooted, cultural, and value-based way. I conduct trainings for teachers and school counselors, helping them understand students beyond academics – by looking at handwriting, physical and behavioral cues, peer interactions, and bridging student-teacher gaps. And yes, I always make space to remind educators that their mental health matters too (because let’s face it, burnout is real, and self-care is not optional).

As a Counseling Psychologist, I’ve worked with diverse populations – from students and parents to the elderly, couples, and individuals navigating life’s many transitions. Whether in schools, juvenile programs, hospitals, or boardrooms, my approach remains the same: compassionate, integrative, and rooted in respect for every person’s unique journey.

But beyond the titles, degrees, and certifications, I’m also a fellow traveler on the path of self-discovery. I believe healing isn’t just about solving problems – it’s about embracing your story, growing through every phase of life, and staying grounded in your truth.

Value your personal journey – the lessons, the laughs, the breakdowns that led to breakthroughs.

My Holistic Journey in Mental Health Advocacy

“Through education we can learn; through experience we create empathy; and through humanity we create love, which is the most powerful tool of healing.”
This profound lesson has shaped my life from my experience.

My journey in mental health has been deeply enriched by my volunteer experiences, particularly with the National Service Scheme (NSS). Engaging closely with my community, I became a passionate advocate for mental health awareness and well-being. One of my key initiatives was the implementation of a Mental Health First Aid Kit, empowering individuals with essential tools and resources to support their own mental wellness and that of others.

As a champion for change, I led the “Together We Can Heal” campaign, fostering community solidarity in addressing mental health challenges. Through workshops and outreach programs, we facilitated open dialogues, highlighting the importance of support networks and collective healing-core principles of community psychology.

Understanding the therapeutic benefits of nature, I organized nature walks and outdoor workshops, helping participants reconnect with the environment and harness its calming effects. This reinforced my belief that healing is not solely an individual journey; it flourishes in a communal context where we uplift one another.

My involvement with Project Unlearn broadened my horizons as I addressed gender-based violence and engaged with juvenile delinquency in high-crime neighborhoods. Collaborating closely with young men, I sought to cultivate empathy and empower them to become advocates for positive change within their communities.

I also provided life skills training for educators, equipping teachers and counselors with essential tools to foster resilience and emotional well-being among students. This integration of innovative healing modalities nurtured an environment rich in self-awareness and personal growth.

In addition to my community engagement, I have had the privilege of serving as a key speakerand event judge in various schools, facilitating POCSO training and conducting mental health workshops across multiple institutions. Throughout my educational journey, I discovered that research is a powerful tool for creating healing modalities. I have presented research papers internationally on topics such as “Quality of Life in the Era of COVID-19” and “Violence and Peace,” discussing the critical role of social work in promoting well-being through non-violence and peacebuilding.

Recognized for my contributions, I was honored to be selected as a positive psychologist, exploring the intersection of positivity and mental health. I am a proud life member of the Bhartiya Counseling Psychology Association and hold a CCI certification in school counseling. My research-focusing on the links between positivity, mental health, crime, and overall well-being-has deepened my understanding of the complex factors influencing mental wellness.

A standout moment in my journey has been collaborating with theater professionals, where I discovered the transformative power of psychodrama as a healing tool. This approach allows for emotional expression through role-play and storytelling, providing participants with a safe, creative space to navigate their feelings. The synergy between theater and psychology has enriched my therapeutic practice, enabling me to facilitate deeper connections and impactful healing experiences.

Through these diverse experiences, I strive to create meaningful change, promoting mental wellness and empowering individuals to embark on their own healing journeys. Together, we can cultivate a community where mental health is prioritized, celebrated, and openly discussed.
